Navigating the Game: Simple & Smart Controls

Before each game begins, you'll see a quick set of instructions to guide you through your Sudoku Master adventure. You'll quickly get the hang of it:

These helpful instructions will appear at the start of every new game. If you prefer to jump straight in, you can easily disable them in the settings menu (look for the gear icon - currently not implemented). In settings, you can also customize other options like "Board Animations" or "Allow Errors" (these features are not yet implemented in code).

Our Smart Error System: Learn & Improve Without Frustration

For newcomers, we highly recommend keeping the "Allow Errors" feature enabled. This means you can freely place numbers without immediate penalty, allowing you to learn by doing and explore possibilities. When you're ready for an extra challenge, disable this feature – every incorrect entry will then add 15 seconds to your timer (this feature is not yet implemented), making it a great way to improve focus and accuracy as you progress towards mastering Sudoku.

Even with "Allow Errors" enabled, Sudoku Master will instantly highlight any rule violations. If you place a number that creates a duplicate in any row, column, or 3x3 block, the problematic cells will be immediately marked in vibrant red – as shown below:

In this example, you can see two '2's highlighted in red in the bottom-left 3x3 block, as well as in their respective row and column. This instant feedback prevents you from getting deep into a challenging Sudoku only to discover a hidden mistake much later. Errors are flagged immediately, allowing for quick correction and a smoother, more enjoyable Sudoku solving experience.

Sudoku Game Rules - Basic Principles for All Levels

Sudoku is a logic-based, combinatorial number-placement puzzle. The objective is to fill a 9×9 grid with digits so that each column, each row, and each of the nine 3×3 subgrids that compose the grid (also called "boxes", "blocks", or "regions") contains all of the digits from 1 to 9. The puzzle setter provides a partially completed grid, which for a well-posed puzzle has a single solution. This classic brain game challenges your logical thinking and improves your memory.

Sudoku Strategies & Tips - Master Your Logic Skills

1. Observation (Scanning): Start by scanning rows, columns, and 3x3 blocks for missing numbers. Look for where a number can only fit in one specific cell.

2. Elimination (Cross-hatching): Use existing numbers to eliminate possibilities for other cells. If a number is present in a row, column, or block, it cannot be in other cells within that same row, column, or block.

3. Naked/Hidden Singles: Identify cells that have only one possible value (Naked Single), or numbers that can only go in one specific cell within a row/column/block (Hidden Single).

4. Pair/Triple Strategies: Look for pairs or triples of numbers that are limited to a specific set of cells within a row, column, or block, allowing you to eliminate them from other cells.

By practicing these Sudoku solving techniques, you can significantly improve your logical thinking and problem-solving abilities. Play daily for a full brain workout!
